Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television show host. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. Then, shortly after she resigned from the company. Corcoran is among ABC's initial Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in every 12 season of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals for the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as one who occasionally was a drinker and treated her mother with disrespect and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
